The file that is downloaded, Dune2000GruntmodsEditionCutscenes.exe, seems to be an installer made to only add the cutscenes to a Gruntmods D2K install - it wouldn't let me install without the Gruntmods edition installed, unlike the PortableRA cutscenes installer which you can also choose where to extract to.

Widely considered one of the greatest works within the sci-figenre, Dune has been the subject of various film and TV adaptations, including an upcoming major motion picture slated for release in 2021. I'm quite confused about all of this right now.Dune is a landmark science fiction novel first published in 1965 and the first in a 6-book saga penned by author Frank Herbert. The FPS says about ~180 the entire time, however, it might actually jump from a lower FPS, I'm not sure. The game speed starts slow, but then the game speed turns really fast after a few seconds. with Gruntmods Studios own 'ddraw.dll' and starting Dune 2000 via CnCNet5, but with the box 'Force DirectDraw Emulation' switched on. This is interresting because this is with Gruntmods Studios 'ddraw.dll' and no altered executable. with Gruntmods Studios own 'ddraw.dll' and starting Dune 2000 via CnCNet5:Ħ0 FPS itinially, but it then drops to 16 FPS. It seems that the fix only works momentarily for Dune 2000. You can however play some (rebuilt) single player levels and of course choose skirmish where you can play one of the multiplayer maps against the computer. Its primary focus is enabling cross-platform multiplayer games. So, it seems that my initial testing might not have been entirely correct. OpenRA is a source port originaly created for Red Alert, but it also supports Dune 2000. I can feel the FPS drop from 60 to something much lower, though. Now, same deal, but with using 'DDRAW.dll' instead (W8+8.1 DirectDraw fix)ĭune2000-spawn.exe = 60 FPS, however, the FPS also seems to drop after a few seconds, however, I cannot see the actual FPS without Gruntmods Studios own 'ddraw.dll'. An observation, initially upon starting the game, I cannot see the FPS counter, however, when it drops to 16 FPS, it shows up. Test results (starting these executables directly and not through CnCNet5)ĭune2000-win8-test.exe = 60 FPS, however, it then drops to exactly 16 FPS after a few seconds.
